Poverty for Naija don reach high level – CBCN

The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, CBCN, don warn say the country economic situation, including hardship, insecurity, and youth unemployment don reach very high levels despite recent government reforms.

The bishops drop their concern about the poverty wen dey rise, food inflation, kidnapping, and the terrible state of correctional facilities, den dem come call for urgent and decisive action to take address the matter.

The warning show during the 2025 First Plenary Meeting of the CBCN, wen hold for the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, CSN, for Abuja on Sunday.

Meanwhile na top religious leaders wen include Most Rev. Lucius Ugorji, Archbishop of Owerri and President of CBCN; Archbishop Daniel Okoh, President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN; and Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama, Catholic Archbishop of Abuja nia attend the event.

Them come tell the government to tackle the root cause of economic hardship and insecurity, say millions of Nigerians dey suffer under extreme conditions of poverty and fear.
