The Anambra State Government don talk say the administration of before before Governor Peter Obi no pay loans from eight different external borrowings as at the time wen he leave office on March 17, 2014, and say as at June 30, 2026, the total balance of such loans wen Obi leave for the official exchange rate stand for N127.4 billion.

Na the Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr Law Mefor nia yarn dis one for one press statement for Awka on Wednesday wen he dey respond to the claims wen Obi make say he pay all the loans for the state before he leave office.

Mefor say the state summarise the latest report from the Debt Management Office on Anambra debt status (as of June 2026), and e show the dates wen dem take sign the loans and the balance wen remain.

He explain say from the evidence, Obi borrow for malaria, erosion control, education, healthcare, and others and so far, the current government dey repay hundreds of millions of naira every month take dey service these debts, though he say dem no dey complain.
