The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU, University of Port Harcourt branch, don declare indefinite strike becos of the incomplete payment of salaries and responsibility allowances to their members.

The union say dem take the action after the university management fail to address their demands undermining say dem meet with the union and dem come get assurances say everything go dey alright.

The branch come still talk say dem dey sideline their members the monthly payment of responsibility allowances wen dem dey pay to members of other unions for over two years.

Na ASUU Secretary for the University of Port Harcourt, Tarila Amakoromo, nia drop dis update for one statement wen he send give news people on Thursday.

Amakoromo come talk say dem hold one emergency congress on Friday, September 11, 2026, and for the meeting, the union give the university administration 48 working hours, wen end on Tuesday midnight September 15, to address the issues or face indefinite local strike wen the union national body go back.
