Lagbo Dam wan release water, FG tell Naija piple

Federal Government don tell naija piple say make dem dey aware say Lagdo dam for Cameroon dey release water.

Na Umar Muhammed, the director general of Nigeria Hydrological services, NIHSA,  nai talk this one for one statement.

“The Nigeria Hydrological service agency go like to tell the general public say the authorities of Lagbo dam for Cameroon don talk to our agency say dem go start to release water for 100m³/s (8,640,000m³/day) from 17, September 2023.

“We dey expect say the water wen dem dey release go reach 1000m³/s over the next seven days based on the flow from Garoua River wen dey act as primary source and tributary to river benue”

The operators don yarn say the water wen dem go dey release na small small so e no go pass wetin River Benue fit handle con dey cause flood for Naija. The plan na say the overflow from Lagbo dam go stop once dem don notice reduction for the flow wen dey enter Lagbo reservoir.

NIHSA con yarn say this message no reach to make people fear but con also advie make states wen river Benue touch make dem dey vigilant, make dem no lose guard.

“As e be, e dey very important for all states wen River Benue touch, that is: Adamawa, Taraba, Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi, Edo, Delta, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross Rivers and Rivers state with  government for local, state and federal level to dey vigilant and arrange the thing wen dem need to take reduce flood if at all.

The agency go dey continue to monitor the flow of Benue River and national inland rivers and dey give updates back to back ontop the water level for major rivers so we fit avoid flood.
