Public workers don threaten total strike, give FG two-week ultimatum

Public service workers don threaten to shut down government operations nationwide if the Federal Government fail to address their demands within the next two weeks.

Na the National Secretary of the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC), Gbenga Olowoyo nia give the warning after public sector unions end their three-day warning strike wen dey aimed at forcing the government to respond to growing concerns over fuel prices, workers’ welfare and the proposed new minimum wage.

The unions start the warning strike from October 2 to 4 after the government fail to act on demands wen dem submit give President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on September 21.

The demands include reduction for petrol prices, improved salaries and allowances, and the immediate arrangement of one tripartite committee to begin negotiations on top one new minimum wage.

Wen Olowoyo dey yarn during one television interview on Monday, he come talk say the warning strike already achieve their immediate objective, say dem get about 65 per cent compliance for across the country. 

He come talk say the next phase would go dey more extensive if the government fail to respond.

Olowoyo come go on to talk say the workers dey disappointed say Tinubu Independence Day address no directly address their demands, and so the council don therefore decide to prepare for total strike.
